This week’s show: No live show for Wednesday July 21st. I will be back on the 28th for another live show. I look forward to your calls.
With the beginning of the New Year and more importantly the Winter Solstice, it’s a good time to reflect back and to look forward. From the perspective of most calendars, the beginning of the year is January 1st. For some people – especially for astrologers – the year begins at one of the four cardinal points defined by the Sun in relationship to the Earth, specifically to the Earth’s equator. The Winter Solstice for the northern hemisphere marks the longest night(s) of the year; at the same time it heralds the return of the light, as the Sun changes course and begins to ascend higher in the sky reaching its peak at the Summer Solstice. The equinoxes mark the time when days and nights are of equal length. This yearly rhythm of light and darkness repeats year after year and is a fundamental cycle for life on our planet. Symbolically it says that no matter how dark things may appear to be, the light is always there – diminished perhaps but always there. And the light will increase just as the darkness decreases. It’s a planetary rhythm. And it applies to us individually as well – no matter how dark life seems, there is light for us to access.
